Website content update pricing: publishing is not copywriting

Ask for final text, licensed images and clear placement instructions before estimating a monthly publishing queue. Separate formatting existing content from researching, writing, translating or designing new material. Decide whether one batch means one page, one post or a set of minor edits.

Example: four supplied-content batches

Four update batches at an assumed 1.5 hours each fit inside 6 delivery hours. Leave deliverable hours already included set to Yes so the same work is not counted twice. Add 0.5 meeting hours and 1 communication/admin hour. At $75/hour with a 10% availability buffer and no profit buffer or fees, the example is $618.75 for 7.5 included hours. These are our planning assumptions, not measured average publishing times.

Included publishing tasks

  • Upload and format final client-supplied text and images in an existing CMS
  • Update agreed product or service details
  • Check links, image size and basic mobile formatting
  • One consolidated feedback pass per agreed batch

Not included in content updates

  • Original copywriting, photography or translation
  • New design templates, custom code or a new checkout flow
  • Content strategy and guaranteed SEO results
  • Unlimited corrections to changing client briefs

The boundary follows WP Buffs' supplied-content edit examples: publishing existing material differs from creating it. Our hour-capped plan and example numbers are independent of that provider.

Agree batches, then quote the monthly queue

Specify file deadlines, review rounds and approval for extra batches. Read the recurring quote and invoicing walkthrough or customize a general retainer. New layout work belongs in a separate website project quote.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as a website content update?

Publishing and formatting final copy or images supplied by the client inside an existing layout. Copywriting, translation and new templates are different services and should be scoped separately.

Will four batches be counted twice?

Not when deliverable hours already included is Yes. Select No only if your delivery-hours estimate excludes the batches and you want count multiplied by hours per batch added separately.

What if the client changes the text after publishing?

Define a feedback allowance and approval process. Small included corrections consume the agreed hours; extra batches or changed briefs can need an additional quote.

Can communication and meetings be zero?

Yes. Both accept zero, although the total included hours must be positive. Count any coordination time you actually expect to spend.

Can I download only the content-update price and scope?

Yes. Uncheck the internal results, edit the selected titles and values, then use Copy Results, Export PDF or Export Excel. The downloads contain the currently selected result content only.
